The Balvenie – The Makers Project
The first phase of #TheMakersProject went live this October, with spoken-word performances from musician Michael Kiwanuka, artist Tishk Barzanji and The Balvenie’s own Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE.
Each of our makers were invited to share a letter they had written to their younger self, revealing their creative journey, inspirations and what craftsmanship means to them. It was a celebration of the intrinsic values and process of making to inspire a new generation of makers.
Working with W Communications, we developed the concept and delivered the live experience at The Barbican, London. We built an informal theatre and gallery space, and installed bars in the Conservatory space for guests to enjoy the signature serve of handcrafted single malt scotch whisky, amid the tropical sanctuary.
Guests were handed tote bags with a selection of items to elevate their experience. This included a notebook with customisable leather pouch and prompts to help them realise their creative process, recipe cards and a complimentary bottle of The Balvenie for guests to make their own whisky cocktails post-event.
